The Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions 4th to 7th November.

Bali, November 2010… The Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions today announced the list of eight players set to play in Bali next week.


The tournament director, Kevin Livesey, released the final list of players who has won at least one international series tournament and is eligible to come to Bali.

1. Na Li (China) winner of AEGON Classic, Birmingham (in July)
2. Aravane Rezai (France) winner of Collector Swedish Open Women, Bastad (in July)
3. Yanina Wickmayer (Belgium) winner of ASB Classic Auckland (in January)
4. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (Russia) winner of Monterrey Open (in March)
5. Ana Ivanovic (Serbia) winner of Generali Ladies in Linz (in October)
6. Alisa Kleybanova (Russia) winner of Golden Horses Health Sanctuary Malaysian Open (in February)

The two wild cards are Kimiko Date-Krumm, who just turned 40, and earned the distinction of being the oldest finalist when she played a marathon three hour final at the HP Women in Japan two weeks ago and Daniela Hantuchova, a player who has visited us many times and is excited to return to Bali.

Meanwhile, Kevin Livesey, the tournament director, also announced that Maria Sharapova has officially withdrawn from the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of champions 2010 so that she can rest and fully recover from her injury.

“It is with regret to our fans and partners that we announce today that we have been informed by Maria Sharapova that she has withdrawn from the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions 2010. Maria says she has had a difficult year coming back from injury and has decided to rest and try and recover with a view of being ready for the 2011 season,” mentions Kevin.

Much as we regret Maria’s decision to not play Bali, “we are very excited with the strong field of confirmed players that we have for this year’s Championships which showcases young and upcoming players and more established stars”, added Livesey.




The International series will now climax with the $600,000 Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions, when this elite eight-player field will assemble at the Bali International Convention Centre, The Westin Resort, Nusa Dua for a spectacular four days of top-class action that takes place from 4th to 7th November.
