"Mentioned Emotions" is a collection of watercolor paintings by four artistically accomplished BIWA members:

Four Members of Bali International Women's Association in an Exhibition of Watercolors at the Ganesha Gallery January 20-31, 2011.

(1/3/2011) The Bali International Women's Association (BIWA) is one of Bali oldest and best known philanthropic organizations. With a membership composed of local and expatriate women, BIWA funds local health, education and relief projects through bazaars and other fund-raising activities organized over the course of the year.

An exhibition by four local artists at Ganesha Gallery suggests there are other rich facets to BIWA's diverse membership worthy of our attention.

"Mentioned Emotions" is a collection of watercolor paintings by four artistically accomplished BIWA members:

• Mala James - an Indonesian member from Lampung, Sumatra presents dynamic images of animals and events, including a cock fight entitled "Love and Anger" and "On Fire" a powerful representation of flames rushing through a forest.

• Yus Martini - the second Indonesian member in the current exhibition, also explores natural themes via "Collapsed" showing the shed petals of a lotus flower or "Unpredictable" depicting a misty forest scene. Also at ease with more abstract renderings, "No Answer Yet" is Yus' swirling free-form exploration of the watercolor medium. Yus also deserves credit for organizing the small group of artists now exhibiting at the Ganesha Gallery.

• Gaye Warren - originally from England, has formally studied botanical drawing. "Clash of Stallions" sees Warren presenting two male zebras engaged in a battle of supremacy.

• Patricia Jamieson - who came to Bali from Ireland, has undertaken studies in art and design, a fact reflected in "Introspection Series" – a collection of paintings depicting mysterious women.

The current group of BIWA painters is a continuance of a group founded in 1996 by for BIWA member and Australian Linda Phanekham, and later taught by one of Indonesia's leading aquarellists – Agus Budianto.
