the number of Singaporeans visiting Bali increases tremendously

DENPASAR
More Singaporeans than ever have fallen in love with Bali as their preferred holiday destination, with January 2011 figures showing a 121.4-percent increase over January 2010.
A total of 16,969 Singaporean tourists visited in January this year compared with 5,871 in January 2010. And the 2010 total was 97,402 against 55,992 visitors in 2009.
“The significant increase due to various factors including the image of Bali as secure place for vacation, the many unique attractions and the relative short flight time between Singapore and Bali,” said Gede Suarsa, head of the Bali statistics office.
In 2010 Singapore was eighth in Bali’s Top Ten visitor countries, after Australia, China, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan. But Singapore still represents only a small proportion of Bali’s overall foreign tourist intake, at just 3.3 percent.
Total foreign arrivals in 2010 were 8 percent up on 2009. Top Ten listed countries Taiwan and Japan produced a decline in visits in 2010, by 7.4 percent and 13.26 percent.
The other eight countries, besides Singapore, recorded increases: Australia (the biggest market by far) by 32.23 percent; China 7.91 percent; Russia 26.03 percent; South Korea 1.82 percent; Malaysia 39.95 percent; and the United States 28.57 percent.
This January Bali registered 209,093 foreign visitors, 16.6 percent up on January 2010.
