Bali and Fremantle on Sail april 23rd. 2011

BALI RACE & RALLY FAREWELL

Members
The Fremantle to Bali Yacht Race and Rally events get underway on the Easter weekend and I am keen to create a great boating spectacular departure for our sailors and for our major sponsor the Indonesian Government Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The Rally fleet start time is midday on Saturday 23 April, and the Racing fleet start is at midday on Tuesday 26 April. The starting line for both fleets is adjacent to North Mole.
I encourage the support of all boat owners to get your boat out onto the water on either/or both days to farewell our sailors on their 1400nm journey. Wave them off and follow the fleet north to provide a great spectacle and to farewell the fleet in style.
Big boats, little boats, sail boats, power boats or even canoes and surf skis – if it floats, you simply have to make it to the Fremantle Harbour mouth on Easter Saturday 23 April and Easter Tuesday 26 April for the Monster Bali Farewell.
There will be plenty of good viewing places on shore too – on both North and South Moles, and as the fleet makes its way along the beaches to Campbell Buoy at Swanbourne, there will be plenty of good viewing opportunities at Leighton Beach and along Marine Parade in Cottesloe.
To add to the spectacle, from 9.00 am on Easter Saturday 23 April, the Clubhouse will host an Indonesian Bazaar featuring Indonesian food, handicrafts, business promotions and cultural dancers. Come down to the Club to enjoy these experiences and participate in the festivities as we farewell our 250 plus sailors.
Hope to see you all at the Clubhouse and at the start line.

Fremantle to Bali Yacht Race to Cross the Finish Line in Bali in Early May 2011.

Bali News: Bali and Fremantle on Sail
(4/16/2011) After an absence of many years, the advance contingent rally of the Fremantle to Bali Yacht Race will depart the Fremantle Sailing Club Western Australia on Saturday, April 23, 2011 between 11:00 and 11:30 am aiming to cross the starting line at 12:00 noon.

Entertaining the many hundreds of spectators expected to come see the rally fleet depart on April 23rd will be a morning bazaar that starts at 9:00 am on April 23 featuring musical entertainment and Balinese-inspired cuisine.

Three days later, on April 26th, the yachts vying for honors in the rigorous Fremantle to Bali Yacht race will cross the starting line off North Mile at midday and expected to arrive in Bali approximately one week later, depending on weather and sea conditions.

The best time in the Fremantle to Bali race was set by the event's patron Rolly Tasker who sailed his yacht Siska over the distance in six days, 15 hours and 39 minutes.

A celebration and awards ceremony hosted by Garuda Indonesia is set for the Aerowisata Sanur Beach Hotel on May 10, 2011.
