“Taksu :Brings about Creative Power and Identity”
For Balinese “Taksu” is simply put as "the indescribable essence of Spirit.”energy, aura of spiritual charisma dwelling within, infusing the person with inner
beauty and charm. Taksu cannot be tested but when it is present, there is
no doubt as to its existence. It cannot be quantified, but only qualified. It fills the person
with confidence, charisma, and swagger. It can be quite pleasurable, its
presence is warm but mysteriously powerful.
With proper instruction and training, one could wield Taksu in a number of
different ways.
Its natural gifts of awareness and intuition combined with intensive
healing support your innate ability to heal and rejuvenate.
This one month-long festival will begin with a parade of performers
from all districts in Bali and other Indonesian provinces, as well as by
foreign participants, and is normally attended by the President of the
Republic of Indonesia himself. After the elaborate parade on June 15, a
formal Grand Opening ceremony will be held that same evening at the Artha Candra Open Stage.
The festival will feature over 340 national and international cultural groups. Participating will be groups from the U.S.A., India, Korea and several European nations.
There will be daily performances of dance and music as well as
countless related cultural and commercial activities, during which
literally the whole of Bali will be drawn to Denpasar to present their
offerings of dance, music and beauty.
Ancient forms of classical Balinese dances will be resurrected during
this year’s festival. Also featured are culinary exhibitions,
competitions, fashion shows, flower shows and displays of traditional
handicrafts.
Each year, the Bali Arts Festival features the enthralling classical dances of the island, such as the legong, gambuh, kecak, barong, baris, the mask dance and
the like, on which contemporary choreographies have been
created, while old village dances and activities are also revived. Over
the years, the whole range of classical Balinese epics and folk stories –
such as the Ramayana, Mahabharata, Sutasoma, Panji - have thus been turned into “colossal Dance dramas” known as Sendratari.
Through its 35 years history, the Bali Arts Festival has become
an important and essential media to rediscover and preserve the unique
and celebrated arts and culture of Bali, and at the same time increase
its people’s welfare. Through this special annual event, it is hoped
that the genuine wisdom and philosophy of the people of Bali will not
only be preserved but will also grow and be spread to other parts of the
world.

“The opening will start with a parade of activities taking place at
the monument of Bajra Sandhi Balinese struggle in Renon,” said head of the Bali
Culture Department I Ketut Suastika, during a media conference at his
office on Wednesday.
The PKB will be officially opened by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, commonly called President SBY, on Saturday.
For the last eight years, he has not missed the festival’s opening
ceremony.
Before opening the PKB officially on Saturday night, President SBY Yudhoyono, accompanied by
seven ministers, will witness a cultural parade of festival participants
in Renon, Denpasar, in the afternoon. The Bali Arts Festival will
run for a full month with approximately 330 artistic performances staged
at Denpasar Cultural Park. Each day, four performances of art shows may
be enjoyed free of charge.
A total of 15,000 artists will be participating in the 35th Bali Arts
Festival (PKB), which is being held this year from June 15 to July 13 at
Denpasar Cultural Park. The festival theme is" Taksu: Brings about Creative Power and

in addition to the arts and culture, the event will also feature a culinary festival, exhibition and competitions, fashion, flower arrangements and handicrafts. Visitors can enjoy traditional Balinese cuisine sold in the Arts Center complex, including the famed betutu (roasted chicken or duck cooked with Balinese spices), babi guling (roast pig), and lawar — a mix of vegetables, minced meat (pork, beef, chicken, or duck), chili, spices and grated coconut, and sometimes fresh animal blood. Suastika said that the culinary festival was aimed at promoting and preserving Balinese cuisine.
An exhibition of Balinese handicrafts will also give visitors the chance to go shopping. Hundreds of local artisans will participate in the festival.
The chairman of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurants Association (PHRI) Bali branch, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati, said that the annual festival could be an alternative tourist attraction. However, he deplored that the festival promotion had yet to successfully attract more tourists.
“Most tourists coming to the Bali Arts Festival heard about the event when they had already arrived in Bali. They usually find out from the hotel staff. None of tourists come to Bali because of the festival,” Sukawati, popularly known as Cok Ace, said.
Cok Ace, who also serves as Bali Tourism Promotion Board (BPP) head, said that he would optimize the promotion of the Bali Arts Festival next year.
“BPPD had not been officially inaugurated, so we could not work for this year’s festival. But we are eager to do our best in promoting the 36th Bali Arts Festival next year,” he said.
This Monument is recognized by the name of Bajra Sandhi
because its form similar to Bajra or Genta or bell used by all
Hindu Priest in reading off Weda holy sentence (mantra) at religious
ceremony. This monument was built in 1987 and it was officially inaugurated by President Megawati Sukarno Putri on 14 June 2003. The purpose of this
monument is to immortalize the soul and spirit of Balinese People
struggle, looking after, developing and also preserving
the culture of Bali
for the next generation so that they can advance as the capital ready for the world filled with the challenges
Overall the area of the monument is rectangular with its application of Tri Mandala. It comprises 3 areas:

Bajra Sandhi Monument is a monument to admire Balinese people struggle from time to time. The monument is located across the street from the Bali Governor's Office in Renon, Denpasar, Bali.
