George Michael to reveal royal wedding song on 'CNN' tonight

George Michael has released this very special version of Stevie Wonder's "You and I."

George Michael has been working hard in the studio to have his mystery cover of a 70s song for Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton ready today (15.04.11).

George Michael has had his royal wedding song approved by Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The 'Faith' singer has had the royal seal of approval for the track - a cover of a 70s song, which he has yet to reveal the title of - which he will make available as a free download today (15.04.11), two weeks before the couple marry on April 29.

He tweeted yesterday: "As it turns out, while I was singing I got a text saying they liked the song - which is the only green light I cared about! Hooray!! What a fantastic day. I'll go to bed a happy, lucky man (sic)."

In another series of messages today, he added: "I'm up early because I only have one more day to finish the track if I'm going to give you all the song by Friday!

"Vocal was pretty much done last night. Got home at 1.30am - sang it live with my piano player. Today is all about overdubs, so excited!"

Though George is giving the track away for free, he has urged fans to make a donation to the charity set up by the couple in lieu of receiving wedding gifts.

He added: "I could have put it out on georgemichael.com but I want Will and Kate to know that this a genuine gift, not a promo exercise. So I called the man who first tweeted me, (Piers Morgan!) and asked him to help me make good my twitter promise (sic)! "Second important thing - William and Kate have asked that anybody who was thinking of getting them a gift should instead make a donation... To www.royalweddingcharityfund.org

Earlier this week, George teased about the track saying it is a "beautiful song" and "was written in the seventies by a genius".

"Tell you what, I'll give u a clue that will really narrow it down to that handful of great love songs of the pop era. The first word of the title is 'You' (sic)."

Fans were quick to submit their guesses, and within an hour the 47-year-old revealed someone had correctly named the track - but still refused to publicly say what he will be recording.

He posted: "Oh my giddy aunt, somebody already got it!!!"
The singer, who found fame with Wham! in the 1980s before going on to solo success, also revealed he met Prince William as a child.

USA Today reports that the ex-Wham singer decided to debut the new ditty on CNN's Piers Morgan on Friday (4/15/11), and will release the song as a free download for music fans.
Furthermore, the "Faith" singer hopes that the tune will inspire people to donate to the Royal Wedding Charity Fund -- a charity organized to finance care for those at Les Bourgs Hospice, The Royal Air Force Association, and Help a Guernsey Child.
Bailiff Sir Geoff Rowland described the Royal Wedding Fund as "an opportunity for our community to celebrate this special occasion by supporting charities that are involved with causes that the Royal couple are championing, including care and support for people faced with illness, help for children in fulfilling their potential and support for our servicemen and their families."

George Michael will unveil his royal wedding gift tonight on "Piers Morgan Tonight" at 9pmET/PT – a cover for William and Kate. The song has been kept under wraps, but Piers Morgan and Michael discuss how it came about, his relationship with the royal family and more – and play the song for the very first time.
