BALI PINK RIBBON WALK 2014 IS ON! A Breast Cancer Awareness

BALI PINK RIBBON WALK 2014 IS ON!
A Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Fundraiser

Bali Pink Ribbon was founded by Gaye Warren, a British breast cancer survivor who has lived in Jakarta for more than twenty years. Following her own treatment for breast cancer and her husband’s retirement, they moved from Jakarta to Bali. Shortly thereafter, Gaye discovered that the infrastructure in Bali for making women aware of breast cancer was almost non existent, notwithstanding professional medical expertise being available on the island with at least two hospitals offering breast cancer treatment to patients.
  • Start: 25 October 2014 10:00 am
  • During the year, Bali Pink Ribbon offers free breast screening in three different locations on the island, during the months of May and October, with the help of visiting volunteer doctors and nurses from FeM Surgery Singapore, who bring with them two mobile USG screening units on loan from Philips Singapore.

  • BPR assists the doctors to arrange for any patient follow-up treatment.  BPR provides free mammogram / USG vouchers for breast screening at the clinic for underprivileged Balinese women.

In May 2014, BPR screened 500 women from the areas of Badung, Denpasar and Karangasem.

In October 2014, we shall be screening women from the areas of Ubud, Nusa Dua and Klungkung.
