ANNUAL BIWA CHARITY BAZAAR CELEBRATES 37 YEARS OF FUND RAISING AND FRIENDSHIP.
Bali International Women’s Association (BIWA) is once again holding their annual Charity Bazaar on Sunday, 12 June 2011 at the parking lot of LOTTE MART Wholesale Denpasar. The bazaar is set to be the largest and best ever with a more comfortable and spacious area for both visitors and vendors to enjoy their shopping.
As in previous years, the Bazaar is one of the main ways for BIWA to raise funds for its projects, which include education and scholarships for under privileged children in Bali and support for children whose parents are drug users living with HIV/AIDS. The funds raised will also cover the implementation of women’s programmes on topics including domestic violence and skill development. In addition, the funds will also be used for the operation of BIWA Mobile Dental Clinic, pap-smear tests and Bali environment management programmes.
Scheduled for a full day from 9am until 5pm, on a Sunday just prior to the mid year school holiday, the Bazaar is expected to beat last year’s figures of more than 3,000 visitors. It is open to the public and entrance is free of charge. A Kids Corner is available with games, drawing and painting to allow parents greater time to roam around the Bazaar. Strategically located, a Food Corner is also set-up serving food and refreshing drinks for those who wish to take a break and relax for a while, before continuing to view all the merchandise on offer. Throughout the day on Centre Stage raffle winners will be announced, with music, fun and games in between.
“We are grateful and thankful to the Management of LOTTE MART Wholesale Denpasar, who have generously contributed the venue to make this bazaar a successful one”, said BIWA President, Marianne Vertegaal. “BIWA Bazaar has become a popular annual event and we promised the vendors and visitors that this year, we will have a more spacious and comfortable area for vendors to display their merchandise and for visitors to enjoy” she added.
There will be 250 stalls available, as well as a further 20 stalls which BIWA provides free of charge to social welfare foundations and projects in Bali. Popular BIWA booths will be selling various items, including BIWA merchandise, Bali Pink Ribbon merchandise, and goods donated by members, sponsors and vendors. Registration is now open for vendors and availability is on a first come, first served basis with cash payment upon reservation.
BIWA has more than 300 members representing 28 countries and offers mutual friendship across cultures.
