Greetings Martha Tilaar
Greetings, friends of
Eastern Garden Martha Tilaar Spa.
Looking back in April,
we had along going on here at Eastern Garden Spa. On the 5th of April we have a
party of six that celebrated the birthday of Juanita Liew. They had a
exceptionally great day at the spa, and the gifts given for Juanita were
exceptional. Another event In April was our usual monthly gathering for the
BSWA association. The BSWA stands for the Bali Spa & Wellness Association,
which is centered upon improving and perfecting the Spa techniques and managements
of a collection of spas that participate here in Bali.
Another highlight of
April is our annual BSWA (Bali Spa & Wellness Association) event. The event
that was held at PHRI Bali is especially special because BSWA is celebrating
its 10th anniversary. Carrying out the theme of "Empowering Women in Spa
Industry", we felt enriched by its various programs. One of which is the
Spa Standardization and Competency seminar by Perry Markus. Another focus of
the monthly gathering was women's health and specifically the prevention of
breast cancer and safe practices for being able to diagnose breast cancer at
its initial stages. Our guest speaker was a specialist Doctor from Bali Pink
Ribbon group. The event ended on a sweet note as Alchemist Boutique entertains
us with its fashion show. We were delighted to have make up and hair do by Sari
Ayu Martha Tilaar. What a special day. -
Let's prepare ourselves
for a very busy May experience. Venturing forth, May marks our transition into
the long awaited summer, and for most of us the best time of the year. A time
when most of us put the responsibilities of our lives on hold, take vacations
and most importantly live our lives to the fullest. Especially in Bali, there
are a few holidays in May that we are greatly looking forward to.
May starts with the
Labor Day holiday both here in Indonesia as well as most of the world from
nation to nation. For many countries, Labor Day is synonymous with
International Workers Day. This is a holiday that stems from ancient customs
associated with the celebration of the spring season with also special ties to
the appreciation of labor and the value of workers of throughout the world.
This is a day when everyone here in Indonesia gets the day off to relax and
spend with their families. This labor-day weekend is a perfect time to spend
the holiday at the spa and pamper yourself for all your valuable labor and
effort our put forth in the world.
Balinese culture also
celebrates the return of one of Bali's major festivals, Galungan in which the
Balinese gods and ancestors return to the island. For ten days, Balinese
families will entertain and welcome them with prayers and offerings, along with
ceremonies to cleanse and balance the inner and outer energy of the island. The
festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil. The holiday is a blessed and
beautiful time to be in Bali because of all the cultural activity and scenery
such as the fitting of 'penjor', tall bamboo poles lavishly decorated with
woven coconut palm leaves, fruit, cakes and flowers outside every house
entrance. People are attired in their finest clothes and jewels on this day. On
Galungan Day Balinese devotees pray at the temples and make their offerings to
the spirits. Women are seen carrying the offerings on their heads, while men
bring palm fronds. As Balinese culture prepares itself for beauty and devotion
to looking its most splendid and divine, you should too.
